Abstract:In this talk, we first revisit Perelman’s W-entropy for the Ricci flow. We show how the classical Boltzmann entropy leads to Perelman’s formula and by this technique we present new monotonicity formulas for the Gaussian curvature flow and the curve shortening flow. We show the correspondence between entropy monotonicity and Harnack inequality. As applications we present alternate proofs of some known entropy estimates and Harnack inequalities.
