Abstract:Semi-orthogonal decompositions (hereditary torsion pair, or Bousfield localizations) of the derived categories of abelian categories are useful in studying Fourier-Mukai transforms on derived categories of coherent sheaves, and in getting t-structures of triangulated categories. In this talk, we give conditions for getting such decompositions in terms of abelian categories. This applies to localizing subcategories, homological ring epimorphisms and commutative noetherian rings. The talk reports parts of a joint work with Hongxing Chen.
